XMBM+ 2K17 is an unofficial fork of XMB Manager. It is a custom Cross Media Bar (XMB) hack that adds shortcuts to various items in the Game category of the XMB.
What’s different in the 2017 release? The menus have been updated, and some descriptions have been modified. Icons (except for save data icons) are now read from dev_hdd0 instead of RCO files from dev_flash, and all icons have been “rebugified” to match the Rebug theme. Additionally, the tool now integrates Custom Firmware Tools, WebMAN/WebMAN Mod settings menu, Plugin Switcher Manager, and a mini version of XMB Package Downloader.

Requirements
- A PS3 with a modern CFW (e.g., Rebug 4.81.1).
- WebMAN or WebMAN Mod must be installed and active for some features (such as the WebMAN menu, Plugin Switcher Manager, and XMB Package Downloader).
- Custom Firmware Tools must be active (enabled via Rebug Toolbox or added to boot_plugins.txt for Rebug CFW). Without this, most of the options in the Custom Firmware Tools will not work, leading to a forced restart and mandatory file system repair.
How to Uninstall XMBM+ 2K17 v2
To uninstall XMBM+ 2K17 v2, either delete or rename the folder dev_hdd0/xmb/ and restore your backed-up XML files, or simply reinstall your CFW.
Important Notice for Installation:
To install XMBM+ 2K17 v2, ensure that you have WebMAN or WebMAN Mod installed and active, as well as Custom Firmware Tools enabled (for Rebug CFW users, this can be done via Rebug Toolbox). Without these, certain features like the WebMAN menu, Plugin Switcher Manager, and XMB Package Downloader will not function properly, and your system may experience forced restarts and file system checks.
If you do not have WebMAN or Custom Firmware Tools active, you may encounter errors during installation or experience limited functionality after installation.
Installing XMBM+ 2K17 v2
For CFW (Custom Firmware):
- Ensure your device is running a compatible version of CFW (e.g., Rebug 4.81.1).
- Install WebMAN or WebMAN Mod on your PS3 if you haven’t a
- Enable Custom Firmware Tools (e.g., via Rebug Toolbox for Rebug CFW or adding xai_plugin to your boot_plugins.txt).
- Copy the XMBM+ 2K17 v2 .PKG file to the root of a USB drive, and then plug it into your PS3.
- Go to Package Manager on your PS3 and select Install Package Files.
- Find the XMBM+ 2K17 v2 package and install it.
For HEN (Homebrew Enabler):
- The process is similar to the CFW installation. Ensure your PS3 is running a compatible version of HEN.
- Install WebMAN or WebMAN Mod and Custom Firmware Tools if you haven’t done so.
- Copy the XMBM+ 2K17 v2 .PKG file to your USB drive, and then plug it into your PS3.
- Go to Package Manager on your PS3 and select Install Package Files.
- Locate and install the XMBM+ 2K17 v2 package.
Once the installation is complete, restart your PS3 and access the new XMBM+ 2K17 v2 menu from the Game category in the XMB. You can now take advantage of the new features such as the updated menus, custom icons, and the integrated tools.
