Features of PKGi v1.2.4:

  • Easy to Use: List available downloads with features like searching, filtering, and sorting.
  • Standalone: No PC is required, everything happens directly on the PS3.
  • Automatic Downloads: Simply choose an item, and it will be downloaded to your HDD in direct mode or queued for background download using the internal Download Manager.
  • Resumes Interrupted Downloads: You can pause a download and resume it later, even if you switch applications.

Important Notes:

Queuing up multiple downloads is only supported in background download mode. Background download tasks will only show up after rebooting the PS3.

Installing Instruction

  1. For CFW (Custom Firmware):
    • Ensure your PS3 is running a compatible version of Custom Firmware (CFW). You can check the compatibility with your CFW version before proceeding.
    • Mount dev_blind: Before installation, ensure dev_blind is mounted on your PS3. This is a crucial step to avoid installation errors. If you fail to mount it, you will encounter an error (e.g., 8001003A), and the installation will fail.
    • Install the PKGi v1.2.4 .pkg file: Once dev_blind is mounted, install the PKGi update just like any other homebrew package via the package manager on your PS3. This will allow you to use the app directly from the XMB.
  2. For HEN (Homebrew Enabler):
    • Ensure your PS3 is running a compatible version of Homebrew Enabler (HEN), as it needs to support the installation of homebrew applications like PKGi.
    • Mount dev_blind: Similar to the CFW setup, make sure dev_blind is mounted before you attempt to install the app. Failure to do so will result in an error.
    • Install the PKGi v1.2.4 .pkg file: Proceed with the installation using the Package Manager or XMB as you would for any other homebrew app.

Once installed, you can use PKGi to download and manage .pkg files directly on your PS3.
