Dark Chronicle, released as Dark Cloud 2 in North America and South Korea, is an action role-playing video game developed by Level-5 and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game was released on Jan 19, 2016, for PlayStation 4. Like its predecessor Dark Cloud, the game is a randomly generated dungeon crawler with city building and weapon synthesis mechanics. New to the series is time travel. Much of the game is set in the past, where the player must fulfill certain conditions in order to restore the future as before. | The difference in the first game is that if the player’s weapon is broken it is gone forever. This is not the case in the sequel, and now the player simply loses experience. The player collects ABS points to level up his weapon to improve his attack power and synthesis points. These are then used to merge with synth shells to obtain additional abilities. Weapon abilities include Attack, Flame, Lightning, Smash, Beast, Durable, Chill, Exorcist, Cyclone, and Scale. |
